The Black Death Symptoms and Cures

The black death was a horrible time in the middle ages. The plague hit in 1347  and ended in 1350. The plague hit Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Everyone was affected by it no matter how wealthy you were. If you got it you died within a week. There were dead bodies everywhere they were put in mass graves where the would put layers and layers of bodies. They also were often put in rivers. The symptoms were big black boils, Aching limbs, spasms, Black liquid coming out of the skin, bleeding under the skin, fatigue and fever. There were three plagues the bubonic, pneumonic and septicaemic plague all of which were deadly. Some of the ways they tried to cure themselves were rubbing onion, herbs or chopped up snake on the boils, Rubbing cut up pigeon all over your body, drinking vinegar or eating crushed up minerals, mercury or ten year old treacle.

How The Black Death Spread

Growth Mindset

 For the past few weeks we have been working on some slides about growth mindset. They showed how to have a growth mindset with some work to do. Here they are:

100 Word Challenge #3

 Today we did the 100 word challenge. The picture was an alien on a rock. Here is the image and the story.

The flying craft was plummeting down to earth. There were three aliens aboard. It was on fire and the glass was cracking and the escape pod could only fit one of them. All three were fighting and trying to get into the pod. One of them got in and ejected the pod just before the ship hit the ground. BOOM! There was fire everywhere. The pod pulled out the parachute and landed in a canyon. The final one got out and looked at the crash site. He could see fire and the ship. He knew he was not getting home.

Expansion and Contraction

Today we are working on an experiment Contraction and Expansion.

Contraction is where the thing gets cold and the particles get more dense.

Expansion is where the particles get heated and they expand. 

Hypothesise: I think the cans are going to contract and crunch.

Results: When I put the can in the water it instantly crunched. 

Conduction

Over the past few we have been working on conduction and today we made an animation. The animation shows a Bunsen burner being lit and heating up a metal rod. Then the heat go's along the rod and melts glue. Here is the animation.

DTE

 I have started a new option called DTE 2. So far we have worked on the design process and a poster showing ergonomic sitting. We also got some certificates for hour of code.  I've learned a bit more about code so far. We learned how to use the  M Bot and code. My robot at the start one of the wheels wouldn't work but we fixed it in the end. So they worked quite well.

I have enjoyed this so far and can't wait to do more.
